Sometimes, coding just kicks you right in the …

6 days. It’s been 6, long, days since I posted my last article. Why? Because I sunk my teeth into the boss wave in my 2D Space Shooter. Wow, this was a lot of work.

The thing is, as I made the boss wave for some reason it started to create havoc on my other code. I still to this point don’t know why. Things stopped working, things disappeared, pure chaos.

At one point, my boss wave looked like this:

Look at that score total go up! Haha, that was crazy.

Well, stuck to it and fixed everything up. Added a boss ship with 4 turrets that fire while it spins and some cool looking boss fighters — see below:

Ok, so it works. I turned off the enemy lasers doing damage just to get it to complete in one take, but you get the idea. I am going to work on an explosion sequence and camera shake for the destruction of the boss.

There is more I want to do with this game, things I want to clean up and add. But right now I have to move on to the next part of the course — the cinematography course. So excited for that. 6 weeks on this game it’s time to move on!

Thanks for following along with this game. My articles starting tomorrow will now focus on cinematography, but in my spare time I’m going to finish my 2D Space Shooter and upload it to my site so I will post update articles as this moves along.

Join me tomorrow for cinematography!
